Herman isn’t really ever interested in anything other than his kitty food or his cat treats (I’m trying to teach him the word ‘treat’).  I bought tartar control treats, but they don’t work very well when your cat wolfs them down without chewing.  Haha.  I gave him a bit of milk once or twice, but that led to poop problems, so no more of that!  He always watches us make food and eat dinner, but he’s really not interested in people food.  I had a trash cat who was a stray who came to live with us and he loved people food, especially peas and lettuce.

My cats aren’t really interested in people food much either… which I find sooooo odd! My first kitty would come grab food of your plate while your fork was in midair if you weren’t paying close enough attention. That cat loved food so much! Other than inhaling all the typical stuff she lhad an appetite for the weirdest things! She liked bread, loved cheese and anything coated in cheese, and she really liked popcorn. Plus she liked all kinds of veggies like broccoli, corn, carrots, and peas. I swear, that cat had a bigger palate than most 8 year olds!

My two cats now have no such interest. You can put a plate of food right next to them, walk away to get a drink, and the most they’ll do is sniff it. Peanut is the more curious one, I’ll offer her some small tidbits of chicken or turkey or let her lick a little sauce from my fingertip when I’m done. But all she seems to want to know is what the heck in mommy eating? She’ll eat a few bites if you’re offering, but then she’s done being cat ambassador to Humanville and runs off to groom her brother. Mooshu, on the other hand, is even more of an odd duck. Give him a piece of chicken and he’ll lick it and walk away. *shakes head in disbelief* The only people food they both come running for is tuna. Don’t even think you open a can or pouch and not give them a little!!

Other than tuna, Mooshu does seem to have a weakness for the dairy. Hubby will finish a bowl of cereal, and if he leaves it out with any milk still in it, Mooshu will slink over and try to get in a few slurps. Peanut likes it too, but she’s not obsessed. I’ve bought him CatSip before, it’s a lactose-free milk for cats. Other than having added taurine, I don’t know what the difference is between that and Lactaid, or any other lactose-free people milk, except that it’s pricey and I can only get it in the specialty pet stores.
