Does anyone have suggestions on how to keep the dog out of the cat box, or from ating the pellets that come out on the cats’ feet? My dog is driving me nuts with her constant pellet eating. I am pretty good at catching her before she eats their ‘deposits’ but the pellets are harder to spot and keep cleaned. I am not going to check the outside of the box area to keep it pellet-free numerous times a day.

I have had the same problems with my dogs (every one of them) for years.  My vet said not to worry. It doesn’t hurt them—just makes their breath horrible!! [/color]

I have Scottish Terriers that will do the same thing.  I finally put one litter box in the tub, and put the one in the laundry room up on a low cabinet.  The cats don’t mind jumping up to get into the tub or onto the cabinet, even though they’re both ten years-old.  The box in the tub works perfectly, as my Scotties aren’t tall enough to get at it, and the top of the laundry room cabinet usually catches any pellets that escape the litter mat.  The dogs can’t reach that box, either.

I realize this may not work for larger, taller dogs.  But, I just thought I’d pass it along.
