Anybody got any ideas about ecological ways to recycle used Feline Pine?  I’ve been bagging it in used plastic shopping bags and putting it out with my trash; however, now I pay for trash removal by the can and am looking to minimize trash can contents.

Use it as mulch around your yard.  if you dont have a septic, you can also flush it.

Wouldn’t using it as mulch in the yard attract every cat in the neighborhood to check out the new big litter box?  I already have problems with the neighborhood kitties using my raised beds as cat boxes and I don’t need a worse problem… I have a small rotary composter that I use for kitchen and garden waste, but it specifically says not to add animal waste (meaning what they produce, not meat scraps, which certainly can’t be added).  Has anyone tried mulching with the used litter?

I have.  Sorry, it doesn’t make a great mulch.  :( It’s way to acidic for the plants, or it was for mine.  Plus it’s kinda ugly, and you’re right, every animal in the neighborhood comes around to figure out what’s up!  We bag it for the trash, too.  You could bury it.  It’s really really bad for the water system… I wouldn’t flush.
