So after much debating and researching I purchased a digital camera this week to be shared with my boyfriend (it was his birthday, so he said to spend what I would have spent on him towards the camera!  Cool, because I’ll probably use it more, but he’s taking it on a study abroad trip this summer).  Neither one of us have ever had a digital camera (a little behind the times?).  I have a nice SLR, though, so I didn’t feel the need.  The only pictures on it so far are of Herman, of course.  I’m enjoying experimenting with the settings and he’s enjoying posing.
Any avid photographers in the bunch?

I love to take pictures, but I managed to lose my good digital camera. *grrr* So I’ve been making the most out of my camera phone! Those things have been getting pretty good! Not to mention I usually have my phone nearby when the kitties do something adorable and I don’t lose the shot while I figure out where the heck I put the camera again!  Of course, most of my pictures are of the cats!!! Most especially Mooshu, he’s such a ham. And he likes to sprawl out in the oddest ways. *lol* Peanut is much more serene… unless she turns into her evil twin and starts tearing up the joint… and then I’m not exactly looking for a camera! *glances at waterpistol*

When I’m not working too hard (ie: it’s been a while) I’ve been known to tweak things on the computer a bit, so I can answer a few photo editing questions here and there. I’ll tell you, I learned more about cameras and the editing software just by playing aorund with them! Big word of advice when it comes to photo editing: SAVE, SAVE AS, and SAVE again!!! Use “save as” every time you make a change. And get used to renaming your experiments with small variations over and over again so you don’t ruin the original files and can always go back/start over if you don’t like how things turn out. Forget to save/save as once and you’ll NEVER forget it again…

I am a photographer as a hobby, and a web designer as a profession, so I do a LOT of photo editing and manipulation, and create graphics at work. I have a lot of experience with different editing software, if anyone ever has a question. smile I also know a lot about composition and such, as far as photography goes. And I love digital cameras! :D

Kool! Now we know whose brain we need to pick for the tough questions! : P

I do a little graphic design on the side, *brushes dust of the degree* but my brain doesn’t like to think in code, so it’s just the WYSIWYG programs for me!  I don’t get to work on it full time : (, so my current crop of at-home programs are not so current anymore : ( I’ll have to come looking for you when I update. Gotta have an in for all the tricks and shortcuts! :D
