I am ready to change over and bought the FP scoop.  I know on the original it says to transition your cats over to it, do you have to do that w/ the scoop kind as well?  I really want to change it but don’t want to freak out my kitties! I have 2- Tyson, adopted from a shelter in 2003 and Girlie stray kitten rescued in 2004.

Hi there,
When I changed over to FP, I first changed out one litterbox, leaving the other one with the usual stuff.  They started using the FP more than the other stuff!  So after a week of that, I changed out the other litterbox.  They have taken to it very well and seem happier for it.
Good luck!

Hi, the orginial question doesn’t look like it got an answer. I have limited space and really wanted to change to the scoopable litter for my two babies (ok 1 high strung baby and one VERY large orange blob); two boxes just isn’t feasible.. what’s the best way to make the change? can I add the scoopable to my current litter and let it get scooped out over time? also since FP scoopable is so fine, should I get a wider scoop to remove the clumps, it takes SOOOO long to clean the over sized box otherwise. Help.

I actually called customer service… you don’t have to transition your cat to the scoop blend at all only the original.  My cats had no problem when I switched it!  Yes I would definitly suggest getting a wider scoop to remove the clumps.  One, I understand the time issue, Two if you have to shake it too much the clump may break apart a little.  I still have to get a wider scoop!  I hope this helped.  Good Luck!

Sorry, the original question seems to be getting answered in another thread: Which Feline Pine product do you use?
http://www.naturesearth.com/forums/viewthread/99/

...though it seems that most of the questions there were asking about switching from other litters or from going from FP scoopable to original pellet fromula. If they’re used to the pine pellets already, they break down to the texture of the scoopable, so it really shouldn’t be a problem for you. If your kitties are very fussy about things, I’d just go ahead and put in the bag of scoopable and see how it goes. If they tend to be a bit finicky, mix the two formulas together the and go from there.

As for the scoopers, just like that old car commercial used to say… wider is better!! I have a nice wide one I picked up somewhere, but don’t have the official FP scoop. I’lll be getting one of those when I get the FP sifting litterbox when Im ready to replace my current one. I still wish you could find the FP sifting box in stores so I can see how big it is, I have a large black and white blob who like to stand up an pee against the litterbox wall, I have to make sure it’s big enough for him and tall enough that it won’t tip over when he props himself up on the edge!

sorry, that was supposed to be “if they AREN’T fussy” to dump in the scoopable by itself.

Guess you miss stuff when you’re posting in a hurry before work!

I have never bothered with a gradual transition. I just clean the box and put the new stuff in.  Never had a cat get upset over it.
