Another one of Herman’s favorite games is throwing things off tables.  In the morning, I will wake to find everything on my nightstand on the floor.  He throws pens off my desk.  He throws cups, books, medicine bottles . . . basically anything that he can push off.  It’s like when toddlers start throwing things on the ground.  He just knocks something down, looks at it, and then looks for something else to knock down.  You can also play the game with him by picking up the object and putting it back.  He just throws it down again.

has anyone tried bitter apple spray with good results?

My cats did the same thing to get my attention.  One rule of thumb, if you don’t want anything to break, put it where the cat can’t get to, or at least not too close to the edge.  Your cat might also be bored, so make sure you spend some time every day to play/ pett it so he doesn’t think you’re forgetting about him.

I have three cats.  Before I leave every day (in that order), I tell the oldest one good bye, then the next oldest, and so forth.  When I come home, I greed each of my cats accordingly; one prefer kisses, another prefer to be played with, and another just likes to be loved. 

I used the bitter apple when one of my kittens was little. he was kind of a biter, not being mean, but just in play. so i sprayed the bitter apple on my hands to keep him from using them as chew toys. he bit me maybe once or twice after that, and that was the end of it.
